It removes the entire root of the hair, which eliminates breakage, bumps and ingrown hairs.
PREPARING FOR YOUR WAX
For your first wax allow your hair to grow a few weeks after shaving before your first appointment. As long as your hair is a quarter of an inch long, or as long as a grain of rice, you can get waxed.
Never shave or tweeze between your waxing appointments. This throws off your hair growth pattern and you will never have the smooth skin you want.
Never use lotion or body oils on the day of your waxing. These products will interfere with your waxing service as the wax will have troubles sticking to the skin.
Exfoliate! Always exfoliate on the day of your waxing appointment. Do not exfoliate to point where your skin is sore. Itβs recommended that you use an exfoliating mitt in the shower on a daily bases. Dead skin build up will not allow the hair to pop through.
If you are nervous about your waxing hurting, pain medication like
ibuprofen may help.
AFTER YOUR WAX
Β· To ensure maximum comfort and benefit after the treatment, it is important to follow the steps below at home:
Β· Avoid applying heat to the waxed area for 12 to 24 hours. This includes hot baths, sauna, and steam.
Β· Use an anti-acne lotion for face, back and chest following the treatment and twice a day until breakouts are gone. Use only an anti-acne product recommended by your skin care professional.
Β· Avoid suntanning for 48 hours. This includes any strong ultraviolet (UV) light exposure or tanning bed treatments.
Β· Avoid applying highly fragranced products to the waxed area. This includes, perfume, scented body lotions, antiperspirants, cosmetics, or feminine hygiene sprays. Only use professional products, recommended to you by the skin care therapist who performed the waxing service.
Β· Avoid using harsh abrasives or exfoliates in the waxed area. However if you are prone to in-grown hairs, the day after your waxing treatment, exfoliate newly waxed area with a loofah to avoid future problems. Follow your technician's recommendations.
Β· Avoid applying high SPF sunblocks to the waxed area for 12-24 hours after the waxing service. Sunscreen chemicals can be irritating to the newly waxed skin. This includes self-tanning products and tan accelerators.
Β· Any pinking of the skin should disappear within 6 to 8 hours after the waxing treatment. Slight pinking is normal, and indicates that the hair was removed from the root, rather than superficially broken off, as in shaving. This is the reason that professional waxing lasts so much longer.
Β· For best results, repeat your professional waxing every 4 to 6 weeks depending on the area and your individual hair growth rate. If you have any questions about your waxing service or after care at home, please do not hesitate to call or text me. 816-516-5015

WHAT TIME OF WAX DO YOU USE?
Mermaid Wax is the next generation in hard wax. It is vegan friendly and allergen free/hypo-allergenic hard wax! This advanced formulation has no equal in the hair removal wax world. Its super elastic consistency coupled with a quick cool property makes it a must-have hard wax! Get readyβ¦ this wax is unlike anything you've seen, both aesthetically & functionally (it has glitter in it!). Hard wax is definitely preferred for bikini area as it doesnβt stick to the skin, only the hair. This allows 80% less contact, making it MUCH less painful. DOES IT HURT?
The million-dollar question, βdoes waxing hurt?β is nearly impossible to answer! Everyone has a different scale for pain tolerance and what is painful for someone may not bother someone else. Will it hurt? Possibly a little, it is a sensitive area after all! Donβt worry; most regular waxers say there is minimal discomfort during a Brazilian wax as the hair becomes thinner and finer over time. People are typically pleasantly surprised after their wax; they often say it wasnβt nearly as bad as they thought it would be. I think because it is the unknown, we build up the worst case scenario in our heads. If youβre still worried about managing sensitivity, we recommend taking an ibuprofen or aspirin roughly 30 minutes before your appointment to help maximize your comfort.
Pro-tip: waxing more frequently will help with sensitivity as hair grows back finer and sparser!
HOW LONG OR SHORT DOES MY HAIR NEED TO BE TO GET WAXED?
The hair should be at least 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch for best results. If you have coarse hair it should be closer to 1/2-inch for the first few waxes. Once the hair becomes finer it can be waxed at a shorter length. You want to be able to grab a hold of the hair.
It may a few waxing treatments to achieve totally smooth skin due to the fact that hair grows in stages and all of your hair is never at the same stage. It is very important to avoid shaving between waxing appointments, as this will interrupt the process and stimulate the hair growth again.
CAN I GET WAXED ON MY PERIOD?
Yes you absolutely get a wax while on your period, you will just need to tuck in your tampon sting or wear a menstrual cup. Some people say they are more sensitive during that time, so that might be a possibility.
HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED TO GET A BRAZILIAN WAX?
Every 4 to 6 weeks. Regular waxing is essential. The skin will be less sensitive if waxing is done every 4 weeks. Over time, with regular waxing, the hair follicle will have less and less of a grip on the hair to be pulled and the hairs will come out more easily.
Another reason to wax frequently is that you may even experience less hair growth over time.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER MY FIRST WAXING TREATMENT?
Hairless skin! Also, everyone's skin reacts differently to waxing treatments, but you can expect to have temporary redness and minor irritation for a day or two. Slight itchiness may be experienced as the hair grows out. Proper post-wax care will alleviate these symptoms quickly.
If youβre a bride or attending a special occasion, I recommend receiving waxing services a month before your special day to see how your skin reacts. If everything is fine, reschedule another wax a few days before.
WILL I GET INGROWN HAIRS?
It's possible, but most people report less ingrown hairs,
Waxing removes the entire hair, root and all, from the follicle. Your skin naturally hardens and thickens over the area that was waxed so it is important to keep that area gently exfoliated. Use a gentle scrub in that area about 2 days after waxing and continue to exfoliate 1 to 2 times a week thereafter. Remember, I said gentle!
Also, use a mixture of tea tree and lavender oil. Both are antimicrobial and antibacterial and will prevent irritation.
Try to wear loose-fitting clothes for a few days after to give your skin a chance to breathe and reduce moisture.
The bikini, lip and underarms are where we tend to perspire the most. Perspiration and moisture cause bacteria to grow. Once that area has been waxed, the follicle is wide open to this bacteria creeping in.
Try to avoid heavy exercise that will increase perspiration and chaffing for about 24-48 hours after waxing.
HOW CAN I PREVENT INGROWN HAIRS?
avoid on the waxed areas:
Β· Use of exfoliating products (Alpha-Hydroxy Acid (AHA) products, loofahs, scrubs, etc.)
Β· Direct sun exposure and tanning beds
Β· Creams with fragrance or ingredients that may irritate
Β· Deodorant: it results in irritation and clogging of open follicles
Β· wearing tight clothing: results in irritation and inflammation
Β· Excessive heat, such as that from hot tubs and saunas. Warm showers are okay.
Β· Exercise, if it may cause chaffing or sweating
Β· touching the freshly waxed area: this encourages irritation
After 24-48 hours, regular exfoliation with a shower gel and loofah or exfoliating glove will help keep skin soft and prevent ingrown hairs.
Apply an SPF 30 or greater sunscreen to any exposed treatment areas. Since waxing exfoliates as well as removing hair, your skin will be more prone to sunburn in the days following your treatment.
CAN I SHAVE BETWEEN WAXING APPOINTMENTS?
No. Please do not shave between waxing appointments! It disrupts the hair growth cycle resulting in more hair at your next appointment.
WILL WAXING MAKE MY HAIR GROW BACK THICKER/STRONGER/DARKER?
Absolutely not.
Waxing does not cause you to grow more hair follicles. In fact, if you get waxed regularly, you will notice that your hair will become quite sparse and not as coarse.
When hair is shaved, it is cut off at the thick part of the hair, which is why you can feel stubble the next day. A properly waxed hair is removed from the root, and when the hair starts to grow back it is a new hair, very fine at the tip, so no stubble.
The only things known to stimulate hair growth are hormones: natural or artificial
